  1. Hi, I would like to sign up for this race, but I was wondering if my road bike will be sufficient for the bike portion of the tri? Thanks Catherine

  2. I was actually wondering the opposite... is a mountain bike allowed in the 2 person relay?

  3. Hi! A road bike is recommended for the individual, athena and relay categories. There is no off-roading during any part of the bike portion. It is all street. If a mountain bike is needed to be used on a relay, that is totally okay to use, too! Hope that helps!

  4. I want to know if you have to wear some kind of footwear for the swimming or if you can swim barefoot? Also how do officials determine if your helmet is appropriate?

    1. You can barefoot. See the USAT rules to see if your helmet is appropriate. I'm sure yours will be. Most are just fine if you bought the. In the past 5-10 years.

    2. Can we dive off the starting platform? What do you do if several swimmers ahead of you are slower than you? Are you allowed to pass them down the middle? Are flip-turns allowed?

  9. There is NO diving. If swimmers are ahead of you, you can pass them on the wall or in the middle of the lane, wherever works. Flip Turns are allowed. Thanks!

  10. How do the relay teams work?

  11. I'm trying to visualize how the swim part will work based on your note: "We will be doing eight laps the same direction in each lane and then getting out of the pool, getting a wrist band and doing 8 laps again. This will help with the challenge of opposite traffic flow." Please help me understand how you can go 8 laps in the same direction.
